Stanley Clarke 1 2 to the Bass Jazz Music CD Review
One word describes the CD 1 2 To The Bass from Stanley Clarke... AWESOME!
It's a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I'm more than happy to announce that’s exactly what I must say about this one. There simply isn’t a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all.
These days it’s a very rare CD on which every single song is good or better than the one before it. This CD is certainly one of those rare CDs.
I’m of the opinion that 1 2 To The Bass is certainly Stanley Clarke’s best work in a few years. A totally enjoyable CD and an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs up because it’s a collection that even the casual Jazz fan can appreciate and enjoy.
While this entire CD is outstanding some of my favorites are track 2 - Simply Said, track 3 - Where Is The Love, and track 12 - Shanti, Peace, Shalom, Paz
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - 1,2, To The Bass. Great track!

The Real Book (B Flat, Sixth edition) $18.95 The Real Books are the best-selling jazz books of all time. Since the 1970s, musicians have trusted these volumes to get them through every gig, night after night. The problem is that the books were illegally produced and distributed, without any regard to copyright law, or royalties paid to the composers who created these musical masterpieces. Hal Leonard is very proud to present the first legiti... |

Officium $15.98 "What is this music?" Fundamentally, it's an exploration of what happens when an improvisatory instrumental voice (saxophone) is placed into the world of early vocal music, which has elements of both improvisation and formal structure. In reality, it's an adventure in which the four male voices of the Hilliard Ensemble travel the 14th- and 15th-century territory of Morales and Dufay, visit the... |

Duke Ellington & John Coltrane $12.94 Perhaps looking to renew his inspiration or maybe simply wanting to broaden his horizons, Duke Ellington began a string of collaborations in the second half of his career--whereas before that, his own band was stimulus enough. Whatever the reason, almost all of his collaborations succeeded at high levels, although none of his shared sessions are more intriguing on the surface than this 1962 date w... |
