George Ivan Morrison or Van Morrison is the one who Irish people fell proud of because he made fame through the world, with the name Van the Man.
Uncle Van was born well on 13 August 1945 after Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed and Japan was defeated in the World War II soon.
Actually life after war was trouble but his family was comfortable, good quality of life and peaceful at Bloomfield Belfast the East. He was single child of the family, of course, was appeased by his father, George, a smart person of shipyard at the hometown, the North Ireland and the United State, the land of very famous singers and musicians, made his father collected many songs, and passed down to his loved son finally. Moreover, his mother, Violet, was a singer. So, his family was full of music, Van grow up among the songs, both of folksong, Celtic, Sol , Blues and Jazz form the United State, country, and western, all were his parent’s collections.
Since Van was 2 years old, his parent realized that their son attended to be a singer because he liked the music all the time different from the general child like toys.
His parent encouraged him to the music. Every Saturday night, there were a song party among the family, relatives and friends, and everyone also felt appreciated with songs sang by Van during the party.
When Van was 12 years old, he had a guitar which his father bought for him to practice. Then the later year, he formed his musician ban, “Sputniksâ€, with school friends. He was a leader and play the skiffle folk style, jazz mix blues. His ban performed around, at cinema and local drama theaters and became well known. When he was 14 years, he set a new band, “Midnight Special†and performed his concert at the school. He got a lot of lady fan.
Uncle Van was so great since his childhood. Besides a singer, he was also a song arranger. Besides a guitar, he asked his father to buy the saxophone for him, to learn more all musicians. He said he immersed the music every minutes, sometimes he did not know that was gift or curse.
Not because of gift or curse, his story was written on pages saying to his capacity, till 62 years old, Van create many good songs and fame around the world, Ireland, England, Europe and the United States. Many famous singers brought his songs to cover such as Jim Morrison of “The Doorsâ€, same surname but is not relatives, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Elvis Costello and so on
Uncle Van had a strong experience, accompanied the concerts with other fames. His songs were well know by himself and also made other singers well known by the cover. Many songs were brought to comprise on movies.
For the album “Van Morrison at the Movies - Soundtrack Hits†is gathering his greatest songs comprised on movies, such as “Gloria†his first single in 1964 with Them and “Moondance†Â
“Brown Eyed Girl†, “Caravan†, and “Someone like You†covered by Rod Stewart, “Have I told You lately†and ended the album by “Comfortably Numbâ€Â accompanied with Roger Waters of Pink Floyd , the song comprised the movie “The Departedâ€
All of 19 songs of the album is the Van’ style and must to collect
